Why Dunkin’ should stick to iced coffee

So many bagels and not enough Blogel-ing! (Yes, that is now a verb.) It seems I have been too busy stuffing my face with bagels and dancing around to ska music on boats to remember to actually write about it. Well the delay is no more!

Recent bagel conclusions:

1. This morning I did something strange. I got a bagel from Dunkin’ Donuts. Sesame with strawberry cream cheese. Now, I’m going to give Dunkin’ the benefit of the doubt here and assume this was an accident:

I think (from experience) it takes about 5 seconds longer to actually spread the cream cheese than it does to place a giant blob on there and call it good. It’s ok though. It still tasted alright. Regardless of the way it looked though, it just didn’t do the trick like those crunchy wonders of joy from Union Bagel Co.. I guess this just re-confirms why I never get bagels from here. Iced coffee? Every day. Those bakery sandwiches with the bacon, turkey and cheddar on a roll? Yes. Bagels? Not anymore.

2. I hate to say this, but I don’t think I like the cream cheese at The Works! And this is such an giant disappointment because their bagels are so damn delicious. I should add that I’m specifically talking about their plain cream cheese, and that I only came to this conclusion yesterday. Maybe they were just having a bad cream cheese day, or maybe I was having a bad tastebud day. Regardless, I’m torn. Do I buy Works bagels and put my own cream cheese on? Or do I just suck it up and maybe order chive or veggie? They also have some maple raisin flavor that’s begging for me to try it. Ok now I feel like I need to make one of those “first world problems” memes. (If you have no idea what I’m talking about … this.)

Alright, so maybe it’s been a rough couple weeks in the bagel universe … perhaps a trip to NYC for a Brooklyn Bagel is in order.
